Maya Jennifer Simmons, a 30-year-old mother of eight from Ladson, South Carolina, tragically lost her life in a shooting incident on July 28, 2023. The incident occurred around 2:19 a.m. in the parking lot of the Bloom Room, a restaurant located at 6877 Dorchester Road in North Charleston. Simmons, affectionately known as "Maya" or "MJ," was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:57 a.m.
