In the early morning hours of August 12, 2023, a grim discovery was made on Kerr Road in the small community of Donalds, South Carolina. Authorities found the body of 47-year-old Crystal Dawn Rainey, a White female from Greenville, inside her vehicle. The engine of the car was still running, and it was soon determined that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Greenwood County Coroner's Office officially ruled her death a homicide.
