On August 12, 2023, at approximately 6 a.m., authorities discovered the body of 47-year-old Crystal Dawn Rainey inside her vehicle on Kerr Road in Donalds, South Carolina. The vehicle's engine was still running, and Rainey had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Greenwood County Coroner's Office ruled her death a homicide.
