On September 24, 2023, 16-year-old Jakobe Antonio Fanning was tragically shot and killed in Columbia, South Carolina. Jakobe, along with 17-year-olds Dre’Von Riley and Caleb Wise, all students at Eau Claire High School, were fatally wounded while sitting in front of a vacant house on Saddletrail Road. A 14-year-old was also injured in the incident but survived.
