Paul Antonio Coleman, a 21-year-old male, was killed on Friday, September 18, 2015, in Columbia, South Carolina. The incident that led to his death occurred at the Hunter's Way Apartments on Percival Road. An autopsy later confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at Palmetto Health Richland hospital at 7:57 p.m.
According to reports from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to the apartment complex just after 7 p.m.,
where they found Coleman lying on the ground. The shooting stemmed from an altercation between Coleman and another individual, identified as Gadson. The two were reportedly fighting over a gun when the dispute escalated, resulting in Gadson shooting Coleman.
Following an investigation into the shooting, Richland County deputies arrested Gadson in connection with Coleman's death. He was charged and subsequently held at the Richland County Detention Center. The investigation centered on the dispute over the firearm that led to the fatal confrontation.
