On May 19, 2024, 46-year-old Jevon "Shorty" Belton was fatally shot at the EZ Spot convenience store located at 3213 Farrow Road in Columbia, South Carolina. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, following an argument between Belton and 35-year-old Joseph Kennedy. Witnesses reported that after the altercation, Kennedy fled the scene. Belton was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
