In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Greenville, South Carolina, tragedy struck at a local establishment, forever altering the lives of a family and community. On November 26, 2023, Keyon Devon Deshawn Robinson, a 38-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally shot inside the Red@28th bar located at 1237 Pendleton Street. Authorities received a 911 call around 11 p.m. reporting a gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Robinson with a gunshot wound to his head; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Keyon, also known as 'Skeet LaRock,' was a father to three children, Laverio, Keyonna, and Keyshawn. His sudden and violent death left his parents, George Allan, Jr. and Barbara Dudley Robinson, along with his sister and other relatives and friends, to mourn their profound loss. The community was shaken by the events of that night, with the management of Red@28th expressing their condolences to Robinson's family and pledging to enhance their security measures to prevent future tragedies.
The Greenville Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the shooting. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of two suspects in connection with Robinson's death. On November 30, 2023, officers apprehended 29-year-old Michael Range after stopping a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a second suspect, 30-year-old Dyquan Sweeney. Both men have been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
