On January 28, 2024, 18-year-old Damon "Lil Red" Damar Jackson Jr. was fatally shot on Meadowbrook Drive off McIver Road in Darlington, South Carolina. Authorities responded to the scene early that morning, where Jackson was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the neck. The Darlington County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), immediately launched a homicide investigation.
