On a tragic autumn afternoon in Darlington, South Carolina, the life of 16-year-old Si’dreek Maurice Player was cut short by gunfire. On October 10, 2023, as Player was leaving the Darlington-Lee Adult Education Center and walking towards his car, he was fatally shot. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The young man, known affectionately as “Sid,” was just a week away from earning his GED.
