On a Sunday morning in Sumter, South Carolina, the body of 35-year-old Westley Rodregus Vaughn, a Black male, was discovered, bringing a tragic end to what began as a routine walk to a convenience store. It was around 9 a.m. on February 4, 2024, when officers responded to a call about a suspicious person in the 100 block of Carver Street. There, they found Vaughn, who had been shot multiple times.
