On September 19, 2023, 42-year-old Paul Shereshaw of Charlotte, North Carolina, was fatally shot in Sumter, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Brand Street, where a Sumter County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered Shereshaw lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
