In the quiet town of Camden, South Carolina, the life of 34-year-old Daysha Nicole Johnson was tragically cut short on the night of Thursday, March 28, 2024. A mother of two, Johnson was found critically injured from gunshots at a residence. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before midnight, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The investigation into her death quickly identified 51-year-old LaQuincy Pollard, the father of her two children, as the suspect. Following the shooting, Pollard fled the scene, leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase across Kershaw County. The pursuit reached speeds of over 120 mph before Pollard eventually stopped at a gas station and surrendered to the authorities.
Following his arrest, LaQuincy Pollard was charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and failure to stop for blue lights. Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan commented on the tragedy, stating, 'Two young children had their lives changed forever tonight due to a horrible decision by someone they looked to as a protector, their father. These precious, innocent children lost both of their parents tonight for no good reason.'
Daysha was born on March 15, 1990, in Wilmington, Delaware, and moved to Camden, South Carolina, in 1993. She was a graduate of Camden High School and went on to receive a certification in massage therapy from Southeastern College in Columbia. She found her passion in home health, where she was known for her caring nature. Described as a light in many lives, she was remembered for her love of life and her ability to make people smile. She was a devoted mother to her children, Ethan and Zowee, who were the center of her world.
