In the early morning hours of November 11, 2021, a night out with her sister and friends at Gadgets, a sports bar in Camden, South Carolina, turned tragic for 33-year-old Sinteria Harris. The mother of four was fatally shot while sitting in the driver's seat of her car outside the establishment. The evening had been uneventful as Harris, her sister, and their friends were preparing to leave the popular downtown spot.
A man who had been at the bar for a couple of hours, periodically
watching the group, drew their attention when he locked the front door of the bar shortly before closing. One of Harris's friends confronted the man, who then unlocked the door. Moments later, as Harris and her group were leaving, the same man hastily followed them out. As Harris sat in her vehicle, the man, identified as Allen Martin Adame, approached and fired a 9mm pistol at her nine times. Harris's sister, who was in the passenger seat, managed to escape unharmed. Adame then fired at two of Harris's friends, who sustained minor injuries.
Adame fled the scene but was apprehended by Kershaw County Sheriff's deputies a short distance away. He was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and two fully loaded magazines. The motive for the seemingly random and violent attack was never established. Initially scheduled for trial, Allen Martin Adame ultimately pleaded guilty to the murder of Sinteria Harris and the attempted murder of the three other individuals. On October 31, 2023, a judge sentenced Adame to fifty years in prison for his crimes.
