In the early morning hours of June 2, 2018, the life of 19-year-old Katelin Jordyn Crocker was tragically cut short in Camden, South Carolina. Responding to a 911 call from the father of Alexander Francis Harmon, who lived in New York, Kershaw County sheriff's deputies arrived at a home on Cleveland School Road. Harmon's father reported that his son had called him to confess to shooting his girlfriend.
Upon their arrival at approximately 2:45 a.m., deputies found 28-year-old Harmon on
the porch. Inside the residence, they discovered Katelin Crocker, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A 12-gauge shotgun and an empty shell casing were also found at the scene. Crocker, a 2017 graduate of Fairfield Central High School and a licensed cosmetologist, had been living with Harmon on and off.
Harmon was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. Body camera footage from one of the responding officers captured Harmon admitting to the shooting. He was initially detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center. In a turn of events, Harmon was granted a $150,000 bond in November 2018 and subsequently fled the state.
After years on the run, Harmon was apprehended in Iowa in January 2025 and extradited back to South Carolina. In September 2025, a Kershaw County jury found Alexander Francis Harmon guilty of the murder of Katelin Jordyn Crocker. He was sentenced to life in prison.
