On the evening of March 14, 2007, 15-year-old Nachida Keota Chandara was at her family's home in Phoenix, Arizona, near South 67th Avenue and West Lower Buckeye Road. At some point after 10:00 p.m., the Laotian teenager disappeared. Initially, authorities believed she had left of her own accord, classifying her case as that of an endangered runaway. Known to her friends as 'Nacho' or 'Chila', Nachida was described as being 5'2" tall and weighing around 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She had several distinguishing features, including a scar on her left forearm, multiple piercings in both of her ears, and a tattoo of three small dots on her right hand. The circumstances surrounding Nachida's disappearance grew more complex when, two months later, in May 2007, the investigation placed her in Detroit, Michigan. While in Detroit, she was reportedly using the alias 'Lisa Tran'. It was also discovered that she may have used other names, such as Lisa Lang Tran, Lisa Marie Tran, and Sonny Somsamouth. The reasons for her cross-country travel and her use of multiple aliases have never been fully understood, creating more questions than answers for both law enforcement and her family. The last confirmed sighting of Nachida was in Detroit on May 17, 2007. Years have passed without any conclusive information on Nachida's whereabouts, and her case remains unsolved. There have been unconfirmed reports that she may have traveled to other cities, including Seattle, Washington, or Miami, Florida, and that she might have been in the company of an adult man or woman. The Phoenix Police Department continues to investigate her disappearance, holding out hope for a breakthrough. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has released an age-progressed image to show what Nachida might look like as an adult, a reminder that she could still be out there. The case is an overview of a young girl who vanished from her home, was later traced to a city thousands of miles away under a different name, and then seemed to disappear completely, leaving behind a prolonged and painful mystery.
