On the evening of April 10, 2024, 20-year-old Ray'Quan Dontrell Lamont Durant was fatally shot outside the Red Bay Store, a convenience store located on Boulevard Road in Sumter, South Carolina. Responding to reports of gunfire around 9:50 p.m., Sumter Police officers arrived at the scene to find Durant suffering from gunshot wounds in the store's parking lot. He was immediately transported to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
