On May 17, 2024, 19-year-old DeMarcus J. Sanders was fatally shot at Jones Adair Park on Odom Street in Chester, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 7 p.m., when shots were fired from a vehicle, striking Sanders and a 17-year-old male companion. Both victims were transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, where Sanders succumbed to his injuries. The 17-year-old sustained a leg wound but survived.
