On a Friday evening in Chester, South Carolina, tragedy struck at a park on Odom Street, shattering the peace of the residential area. On May 17, 2024, 19-year-old DeMarcus J. Sanders was shot in a violent encounter that would ultimately claim his life. Emergency services were called to the scene before 7 p.m., where they discovered that Sanders, along with a 17-year-old male, had been wounded.
