In the quiet town of Chester, South Carolina, the life of Bryan Jawann Feaster, a 37-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short on the evening of Monday, March 17, 2025. Feaster was inside a residence on Steinkuhler Street when a heated argument broke out among several people present. The verbal altercation escalated with horrifying speed, culminating in the pulling of a gun and the fatal shooting of Feaster.
He was pronounced dead at the scene from a close-range gunshot wound.
The immediate aftermath saw the suspect flee the home, leaving a scene of chaos and the beginning of a homicide investigation. The Chester Police Department, with the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division quickly identified 32-year-old Micheal Andre Kendrick as the alleged shooter based on witness accounts. The manhunt for Kendrick did not last long, as he was located and apprehended the following day in Rock Hill, a city about 20 miles north of Chester.
Following his arrest, Micheal Andre Kendrick was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. During the course of the investigation, authorities also discovered a significant quantity of fentanyl, leading to an additional charge of fentanyl trafficking, which carries a mandatory 25-year prison sentence upon conviction. Kendrick was booked into the Chester County Detention Center, where he is being held without the possibility of bail. His initial court appearance was scheduled for May 1, 2025, to face the charges brought against him. While the motive appears to stem from the argument that preceded the shooting, further details about the nature of the dispute have not been publicly released by law enforcement as the investigation continues.
