In the late summer of 2024, a tragic incident in Sumter, South Carolina, claimed the lives of two teenage half-siblings, leaving a family and community in mourning. Sixteen-year-old NyHeem Dashaun Burgess, a male, passed away on August 28, 2024, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, five days after being critically injured. His half-sister, 18-year-old Khanesia Sincere Commander, also succumbed to her injuries at Prisma Health Tuomey.
