On a festive day in Jackson, Mississippi, the life of 27-year-old Joshua Spann was cut short. On March 25, 2023, during the annual Hal's St. Paddy's Day Parade, Spann, a male volunteer firefighter, was with friends near Jefferson Street when they witnessed a troubling scene. A man, later identified as Jordan Cummins, was reportedly assaulting his girlfriend, Jenny Lukens, in a parked vehicle. Spann and his friends decided to intervene in an attempt to help the woman.
