On March 25, 2023, Joshua Spann, a 27-year-old resident of Jackson, Mississippi, was shot and killed during an altercation that occurred at the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. The incident unfolded when Spann and his friends intervened in a domestic dispute involving Jordan Cummins and his girlfriend, Jenny Lukens.
