On October 10, 2021, 57-year-old Jerry E. Rayford was fatally shot in Orrville, Alabama. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at Rayford's residence, where he was hosting a party. A dispute arose between two female guests outside his home. When Rayford intervened to de-escalate the situation and asked the individuals to leave, he was shot multiple times, including at least one shot to the head and several to the torso.
