On July 14, 2023, 55-year-old Wilson Earl "Tater" Myrick was found deceased outside his mobile home on Azzie Pitts Road in the Matthews community near Laurel, Mississippi. A co-worker discovered his body when arriving to pick him up for work and immediately contacted authorities. Upon arrival, deputies from the Jones County Sheriff's Department determined that Myrick had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
