In the early morning hours of New Year's Eve 2016, a 9-year-old boy in Atlanta, Georgia, woke up to a scene that would forever alter the course of his young life. He found his grandmother, 47-year-old Julia McTure, a Black female, lying unresponsive on the living room floor of their Hollywood Road apartment. The child immediately ran to neighbors for help, telling them that his grandmother had been hurt. Police and medical examiners would later confirm that McTure had been strangled to death. ...
