On November 13, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Jackson Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Berryhill Place in Jackson, Mississippi. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Markavius Carey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
