On December 27, 2023, 41-year-old Jason Adam Marshall was fatally shot in Soso, Mississippi, during a confrontation at his ex-wife's residence. Marshall, who had recently run for mayor in a special election on December 18, arrived at the property armed with a 9mm pistol, violating a court-issued domestic protection order obtained by his ex-wife in October.
