In the late summer of 2021, the community of Greenville, Mississippi, was shaken by a violent act that claimed the life of a young man. On the evening of September 13, 26-year-old Isiah Davis, a Black male, was inside his vehicle in the 800 block of St. Charles Street when he was tragically shot multiple times. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported Davis to Delta Regional Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The incident left his family and friends mourning the sudden and senseless loss of a man described as a cool, quiet, and respectful individual.

The Greenville Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the homicide, diligently working to bring justice for Isiah Davis and his loved ones. For over a year, the case remained a primary focus for detectives who pieced together the events of that fateful night. Their persistent efforts eventually led to a significant breakthrough in the case.

On January 26, 2023, investigators with the Greenville Police Department secured an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Nicholas Hampton of Greenville. Hampton was taken into custody and subsequently charged with the murder of Isiah Davis. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility to await a bond hearing. The arrest brought a sense of relief and a step towards closure for a community impacted by this act of violence, underscoring the police department's commitment to resolving even their most challenging cold cases.
