In the early morning hours of a weekend filled with homecoming celebrations in Yazoo City, Mississippi, a private party turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 35-year-old Jarvis Williams. On October 12, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., Williams was shot multiple times. He was rushed to Baptist Medical Center Yazoo, but tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The shooting, which left another man, Williams's brother, critically injured, prompted a
homicide investigation by the Yazoo City Police Department. The investigation quickly grew to involve the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to assist in the inquiry. In the wake of the deadly shooting, law enforcement increased their presence in the city to prevent any potential acts of retaliation.
While authorities have identified persons of interest in the case, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Jarvis Williams. The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to piece together the events of that fatal morning.
