On February 17, 2017, law enforcement officials in Rosedale, Mississippi, responded to a distress call regarding a shooting at a local residence. Upon arriving at the scene, officers entered the home to find a tragic tableau involving two unresponsive individuals. The responders discovered the body of Cedric Brown, a 33-year-old Black male, alongside a female victim identified as Nakota Cartwright.
