Demetrius Curtis

In the late afternoon of New Year's Eve 2023, a verbal dispute at the intersection of 7th Street and Leflore Avenue in Clarksdale, Mississippi, escalated into deadly violence. Demetrius Curtis, a 36-year-old Black male, was shot multiple times. When Clarksdale police officers arrived at the scene around 3:12 p.m., they found Curtis in the street, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing an argument between Curtis and another man just before the gunshots rang out.
