In the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2024, the community of Starkville, Mississippi, was rocked by a violent incident that resulted in the death of 40-year-old Calvin Demond Tate. Deputies from the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office responded to a distress call at approximately 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Artesia Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered Tate suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
