In the quiet afternoon of a Friday in Greenwood, Mississippi, the life of 44-year-old Doniel Nellum was brought to a violent and abrupt end. On January 12, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Nellum was gunned down in the driveway of a residence located at 609 Mimosa Street. The attack was brazen and overwhelming; law enforcement officials reported that a barrage of at least 50 shots were fired by multiple assailants. Investigators believe that at least two shooters and a driver followed Nellum from his workplace, Milwaukee Tool, to the location where the fatal shooting occurred.
The Greenwood Police Department launched an investigation that quickly led to the identification and apprehension of several suspects. One of the first to be taken into custody was 20-year-old Kameron Ke'Shawn Bedell of Greenwood. He was formally charged with murder and one count of participating in gang activity. Following Bedell's arrest, two brothers from Robinsonville, 20-year-old Jakarrious Stewart and 20-year-old Kyvion Kent, were also apprehended and faced the same charges of murder and engaging in gang-related activity for their alleged roles in Nellum's death.

A judge set the bond for each of the suspects—Bedell, Stewart, and Kent—at a substantial $1.05 million, reflecting the serious nature of the charges against them.
