In the late hours of a Tuesday in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the life of 45-year-old Shandrick Montgomery was tragically cut short. On May 28, 2024, at approximately 11:14 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Locust Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Montgomery lying in the street, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of 58-year-old Bernard Brown. Brown was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. In September 2025, a Warren County grand jury formally indicted Brown on these charges, moving the case forward through the legal system. His bond was set at $1,025,000. The prosecution of the case is being handled by the Warren County District Attorney's Office.
