On a Monday evening in Greenville, Mississippi, chaos erupted near Highway 82 and Cedar Street as gunfire shattered the night, leaving two men wounded. Both victims were quickly transported to Delta Health Systems by a private vehicle. One of the men, 32-year-old Carlton Isaiah Thomas Sr., had sustained a grievous gunshot wound to his back. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The second victim, identified as 25-year-old Patrick Thomas, was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg at another facility.
Carlton, known affectionately as 'C4,' was born on May 10, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Greenville where he graduated from Greenville Public Schools in 2010. He went on to earn a certification in welding from Mississippi Delta Community College. At the time of his death, he was employed as a Production Technician at the Nissan Motor Parts Distribution Center in Canton, Mississippi. He was a father, leaving behind a son, Carlton Thomas, Jr.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Greenville Police Department's detectives launched an active investigation into the homicide.
