In the late spring of 2023, the community of Greenville, Mississippi, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of one of its residents. Ernest Davis, a 61-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of Saturday, May 20th. The incident occurred in the 800 block of Walthall Street, a residential area that would become the scene of a tragic loss. Officers from the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the location following reports of a person having been shot.
