On June 29, 2024, 49-year-old Kerry Overton was fatally shot in the 800 block of Nelson Street in Greenville, Mississippi. The Greenville Police Department, with assistance from the Special Response Team and the Washington County Sheriff's Department, conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of six suspects: Carlos Cross, Julius Dillard, Tariq Harris, Kendrick Malone, and Jeremiah Wilson.
