On January 30, 2025, 36-year-old African American male Darrius Mitchell was fatally shot in Greenville, Mississippi. The incident occurred in the 200 block of South Broadway Street while Mitchell was a passenger in a vehicle that came under gunfire. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The shooting took place near the Double Quik convenience store located at 229 S Broadway St.
