On May 7, 2023, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a fatal shooting occurred in the 900 block of East Business Loop in Columbia, Missouri, near Plush Lounge. The incident resulted in the death of 26-year-old Melvin Hooker III, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
