On May 7, 2023, 26-year-old Melvin Hooker III was fatally shot during a chaotic incident in Columbia, Missouri. The violence erupted outside the Plush Lounge, a venue located on the Business Loop 70, where a dispute escalated into a significant exchange of gunfire. Witnesses described the scene as sounding like a war zone, with numerous shots fired in rapid succession. Hooker was struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
