On February 4, 2020, the community of Columbia, Missouri, mourned the loss of 39-year-old Bobbie Jo Robinson, a beloved mother and office manager known for her positive spirit and sassy personality. Born in Oklahoma City, she had built a life in Missouri, graduating from Moberly Senior High School and working at a local plumbing company. Friends and family remembered her as a loving woman who was full of life and deeply devoted to her son.
Her life was cut short in a violent domestic incident at a residence in the 5100 block of North Creasy Springs Road.
The events leading to her death began late on the night of February 3, when Boone County deputies responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance and shots fired at the home. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers attempted to enter the residence but were forced to retreat after being fired upon three to five times from inside the house. A standoff ensued, during which an intentional fire was set within the home around midnight. Fire personnel were eventually able to extinguish the flames, allowing a SWAT team and a robot to search the premises.
Inside the residence, authorities discovered the bodies of Robinson and 41-year-old Stefan L. Dailing of Moberly. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Investigators classified the tragedy as a murder-suicide, determining that Dailing was the suspect who had engaged in the standoff with police before taking his own life. Because the perpetrator died at the scene, no arrests were made and no criminal trial occurred in connection with Robinson's death.
