In March of 2025, the community of Greenville, Mississippi, was shaken by the discovery of a local man's body, leading to a swift murder investigation and an arrest. The deceased was identified as 48-year-old Corey Webster, a male resident of Greenville. His body was found on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in a wooded area situated near a railroad track off of Shamoon Lane.
Investigators believe that the grim discovery near the railroad was not where the fatal altercation took place.
Evidence suggested that Webster had been shot at an entirely different location, specifically in the 900 block of Nelson Street. It was there, police believe, that an argument escalated to the point of deadly violence. The subsequent investigation into Webster's death quickly pointed towards a suspect.
Following the trail of evidence and witness accounts, law enforcement officials arrested 43-year-old Tristan Mason, also a resident of Greenville. The motive for the shooting, according to witnesses, appeared to be a dispute that occurred between Mason and Webster. Mason was subsequently charged with First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
After his arrest, Tristan Mason was brought before a municipal judge who set his bond at $500,000. He was then remanded to the custody of the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
