In the summer of 2021, the life of 29-year-old Arusher Sturdevant, a Black male from Greenville, Mississippi, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of July 29th, officers from the Greenville Police Department were called to a residence on JoAnn Circle following a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, they found Sturdevant suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite any medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries, and his death was subsequently ruled a homicide.
Investigators began to piece together the events of that fateful day, with early indications suggesting the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic dispute. The Greenville Police Department opened an active and intense investigation into Sturdevant's murder. Complicating the case, it came to light that at the time of his death, Sturdevant himself was the subject of an arrest warrant for three counts of attempted murder in a separate incident.
