In a quiet wooded area off Baywood Drive in Moss Point, Mississippi, a grim discovery was made on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The body of 28-year-old Spencer Watson of Pascagoula was found, bringing a tragic end to a search that began that very morning when his family reported him missing. His death is being investigated as a homicide, with authorities believing he was killed on Monday, October 21, 2024.

The investigation into Watson's disappearance gained momentum when Pascagoula Police detectives connected with their counterparts in Moss Point. Residents near Baywood Drive and River Pine Road had reported hearing gunshots on that Monday, a crucial piece of information that linked the two cases. This collaboration between the departments ultimately led authorities to the location where Watson's body was discovered. An autopsy later confirmed that Watson had been shot twice.

In connection with the death of Spencer Watson, authorities arrested 22-year-old Johnny William Anderson of Moss Point. Anderson has been charged with murder and is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center while he awaits his initial court appearance. The investigation by the Moss Point Police Department remains active, and they are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

Spencer Ramon Watson, born on June 1, 1996, was remembered for his vibrant personality and infectious smile. A 2014 honor graduate of Pascagoula High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve. Over the years, he held various jobs, including positions at KFC, Wendy's, Amazon, FedEx, and as a welder at Huntington-Ingalls Shipyard. Funeral services were held for him on November 2, 2024, at the Refuge Christian Center Church in Moss Point, followed by his burial at Scranton Cemetery in Pascagoula.
