In the early morning hours of January 14, 2023, 30-year-old Jontell White, a Black male, was fatally shot outside the Metro Grand Rapids bar on Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Rapids Police officers heard the gunshots around 1:45 a.m. and discovered White deceased at the scene. Described by his mother as a 'gentle giant' who was sweet, kind, and loving, Jontell was a father to two young daughters, aged 11 and 1 at the time of his death.
