On March 1, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Michigan State Police responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Kirk Road in Vassar Township, Tuscola County, where they discovered 41-year-old Shawn Andy Maxwell of Redford deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation indicated that Maxwell had been involved in an argument with an acquaintance inside the home, which escalated to the fatal shooting.
