On September 11, 2025, in Port Huron, Michigan, Kayleb Smerer, 17, male, was shot inside his family’s home during the early morning hours. Police say the shooting was domestic in nature; two of his siblings—a 13-year-old brother and a 12-year-old sister—were also struck and rushed in critical condition to Detroit-area hospitals after officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 6 a.m. from the 2800 block of Glenview Court.
