In the late hours of a Sunday summer evening in Detroit, an argument in an alleyway took a tragic and fatal turn, forever altering the lives of two families. On August 13, 2023, 20-year-old Jamal Gibson and his friend, 21-year-old K'Von Thompson-Doze, were in an alley in the 5080 block of Fredro Street. An altercation broke out, which quickly escalated. It is alleged that during the dispute, a man produced a handgun and opened fire on both Gibson and Thompson-Doze.
