On October 21, 2023, Dale B. McLaughlin Sr., a 59-year-old resident of Gladwin, Michigan, was shot and killed at his home on Howard Road. The incident occurred during a dispute involving a longtime acquaintance, Terry Lee Verhelle, who was present at the residence. Following the shooting, police arrived on the scene and found McLaughlin deceased from gunshot wounds.
