On March 7, 2024, 34-year-old Courtney Cooper was found fatally shot in his residence on Grove Street in Highland Park, Michigan. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m., when neighbors reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots. Cooper, a well-known community leader and youth advocate, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head.
