On May 25, 2024, 32-year-old Rashad Hawkins was fatally shot near Peyton’s Bar & Grill, formerly known as the Red Rooster, located at 15655 Lake Drive in Idlewild, Michigan. Lake County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired around 12:04 a.m. and found Hawkins unresponsive in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
