On a summer afternoon in Detroit, Michigan, tragedy struck the community. Trevion Ward, a 20-year-old Black/African American male, was standing in front of a residence in the 19900 block of Omira Street on July 18, 2024. At approximately 1:19 p.m., a blue sedan, heading southbound, approached the location. Suddenly, multiple gunshots were fired from the vehicle, striking Ward several times.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and attempted to render aid, but the
injuries were too severe. Ward succumbed to his wounds at the location of the shooting. The incident was a drive-by shooting that abruptly ended a young life. The Detroit Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting.
In the wake of the shooting, authorities have been actively seeking information from the public to identify the suspect or suspects responsible for Ward's death. Initially, a reward of $1,000 was offered for any information that could lead to an arrest. As the investigation continued and with no arrests made, the reward was significantly increased to $20,000 to encourage community cooperation. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Trevion Ward, and the case remains an open and ongoing investigation. The Detroit Police Department continues to urge anyone with information to come forward.
