On a summer afternoon in Detroit, tragedy struck the life of 53-year-old Sharonda Davis-Thomas. On July 26, police were called to a residence on Five Points Street around 4:45 p.m. following reports of a shooting. In the driveway of the home, they discovered Sharonda, a female, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and quickly transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite their efforts, Sharonda Davis-Thomas succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident, which authorities believe to be a case of domestic violence, ended a life and initiated a homicide investigation.
The investigation led to the arrest of her husband, 72-year-old George Douglas Thomas. On July 29, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charged him with first-degree premeditated murder and felony firearm. He was arraigned the following day and remanded to jail. During a probable cause conference in August, a competency evaluation was ordered for George Thomas, with a hearing scheduled for November 6.
