In the early morning hours of September 9, 2017, the lives of two young people were tragically cut short on the east side of Detroit. Twenty-three-year-old Jalisa Baxter and her friend, Eric Perkins, were discovered shot to death inside a car that was parked in a vacant lot near the intersection of Rohns and Moffett streets. The discovery was made at approximately 3:45 a.m.
Jalisa was described by her family as a funny and loving young woman who was devoted to her son.
She was a hardworking individual, and on the night she was killed, she had just finished her shift at work around midnight. Her family remembers her as someone who cherished spending time with her loved ones and was focused on providing for her child. Those who knew Jalisa said she was friendly and that to meet her was to become her friend.
